The moving process explained
Preparation Your moving consultant is responsible for:
- Advising you with every aspect of the move and explaining our services
- Providing an estimate
- Helping you decide the best move date
- Pointing out items that can’t be moved and/or require special attention
Packing and Loading Our drivers are responsible for: - Preparing a detailed inventory of items to be moved
- Tagging each box with a numbered label
- Taking extra care to protect your home and its contents on moving day along with loading your possessions onto the truck
- Providing a Bill of Lading authorizing transport of your possessions
**NOTE: If you can not be present at the time of loading, you will need to arrange for another responsible party to sign the BOL and inventory list.
Inventory/Paperwork The driver will prepare a detailed inventory report of your possessions to be moved. In addition to tagging every box and piece of furniture, they will record each item and it’s description on the inventory form. You should notify your driver of any special concerns or handling considerations as the form is prepared. You will be asked to sign the inventory sheet to acknowledge the pieces indicated were loaded on the truck and the condition of the items loaded. After you and the driver have signed the form in agreement, you will be presented a copy to use at your new home.
Delivery You will need to contact us as soon as you arrive in your new hometown so that final delivery arrangements can be made. We or the driver will contact you 24 hours prior to the expected arrival time to confirm.
Once your shipment arrives, you can help expedite the unloading process by having a room-by-room floor plan in mind, and by letting the driver know where you want things placed as they're unloaded and brought into your home. The driver and crew will reassemble any items they disassembled at origin. Please be sure to check items off the Inventory Sheet as they are brought in, noting their condition. If an item appears to have been damaged during the move or is missing, make a note on the inventory sheet—including the driver's copies—and notify us.
Payment Payment is due in full to the driver before the shipment can be unloaded, unless approved billing/credit arrangements have previously been made through our office. If you are having your possessions placed in storage, charges up to that point are due at that time. Payment must be made by credit card, in cash, cashier’s check, or money order payable to the company. The copy of the BOL signed by the driver will be your receipt.
Unpacking Should you choose to unpack yourself, you will be responsible for disposing of the empty boxes and used materials. If you have requested and paid for unpacking services, we will arrange for your possessions to be unpacked at the time of delivery and we will remove the used packing materials. |
